Packing and move management.
We run the day so the family doesn't have to.
Harbor Lane provides full-service senior move management across Greater Houston. We plan the new space, sort and pack the old home, direct the crew on move day, set up the new residence, and clear what's left behind. One team carries all of it.
- All five core move management services, provided in-house
- Our own trained crew, supervised start to finish
- A written plan and an honest cost range before we begin

What senior move management actually is
Senior move management is the profession built around helping older adults and their families through the entire process of moving or downsizing. It is not moving, and it is not junk removal. It is the planning, the decisions, the coordination, and the hands-on work that surround the move, delivered by trained professionals who do this every day.
The national association that sets the standards for this work defines five core services. Harbor Lane provides all five directly, with our own trained team, for every household we serve.
The five core services, all under one roof
Customized floor plans and space planning
Before a single box is packed, we measure the new home and build a to-scale furniture plan, so you know exactly what fits and where it goes.
- A measured floor plan of the new home or community unit
- A to-scale furniture layout, adjusted until it's right
- Community move-in rules, elevator windows, and door dimensions handled

Sorting services
We sort the home room by room at your parent's pace, with every decision theirs. We start in low-emotion spaces to build momentum and save the sentimental rooms for last.
- Five clear categories: keep, gift, sell, donate, release
- Treasured pieces offered to family first
- Photographs and notes for the pieces that can't come along

Move management and move oversight
This is the day itself. We pack, label, and inventory everything, then direct the crew from load to placement, working from the floor plan so heavy furniture lands right the first time.
- Packed and labeled by destination room, fragile pieces protected
- A full inventory, so nothing goes missing
- Our team on site the entire day, directing the crew
- A first-night bag packed by hand that never leaves your side

Setting up the new residence
A move isn't finished when the truck leaves. We unpack and rebuild the familiar so your parent walks into a home, not a stack of boxes.
- Bedroom and bathroom ready for the first night
- The old arrangement recreated: same chair by the window, photos at eye level
- Beds made, pictures hung, kitchen stocked with the real basics

Disposal and dispersal of remaining items
Once your parent is settled, we empty the old home completely and route everything of value transparently, so the sale or the estate can move forward.
- Valuables routed to estate sale, consignment, or auction, itemized in writing
- Usable goods donated with receipts, the rest responsibly hauled
- Cleaned and lightly staged, handed back ready to list

How a Harbor Lane move runs
- 1
The first conversation
Five minutes on the phone or through our planner. We listen first, and we read every detail before we ever call you back.
- 2
In-home walkthrough and written plan
We walk the home, scope the work, and put a phased plan and an honest cost range in writing before you commit to anything.
- 3
The floor plan
We measure the new home and lay out the furniture to scale, so the “will it fit” questions are answered early.
- 4
Sorting sessions
Room by room, at your parent's pace, with every decision theirs.
- 5
Packing
Packed, labeled by destination room, and inventoried. Fragile and sentimental pieces get the extra care they deserve.
- 6
Move day
Our team runs the day and directs the crew. The family gets to be present for the person instead of the logistics.
- 7
Setting up the new residence
Unpacked and arranged the same day wherever possible, so the first night in the new home feels like home.
- 8
Clearing the old home
Emptied, valuables routed transparently, cleaned, and handed back ready to list.

A move manager and a moving company are not the same thing.

| Packing | Packed, labeled by destination room, inventoried | Usually available |
| Move day | We direct the crew and place every piece from the plan | They load, drive, and unload |
| Setting up the new home | Fully unpacked and arranged, first night ready | Boxes delivered |

We coordinate the movers as part of the job. You never manage them, and you never get a second bill you weren't expecting.
Our own team, every time.
The people in your mother's home are trained, background-checked, and employed by us. Not a rotating crew of day labor, and not a franchise selling a name to whoever bought the territory. The person who meets you on day one sees it through, and knows the whole situation without being handed a file. Harbor Lane is insured and bonded, and we tell you plainly how we're paid: if we sell items on your family's behalf, you see exactly what we earn on them, itemized, in writing.
