Open role

Senior Move Specialist

Part-time W-2 employee · As-needed project schedule · Entry level welcome · $18 to $22 an hour · Greater Houston

This is the heart of what we do. You'll work inside a client's home helping an older adult sort a lifetime of belongings, pack what's coming with them, and unpack it on the other end so the new place feels like home on the first night. The work is physical and it is emotional, and the families remember the person who did it well.

What you'd do

  • Guide sorting sessions room by room, at the client's pace, with every decision theirs
  • Pack carefully and label by destination room, with extra care for fragile and sentimental pieces
  • Keep an accurate inventory so nothing goes missing
  • Unpack and set up the new home: beds made, pictures hung, the chair back by the window
  • Photograph and document items headed for sale, donation, or family
  • Communicate warmly and clearly with clients and their adult children throughout

What we're looking for

  • Patience with older adults, and the instinct to slow down when someone needs a minute
  • Genuine care for people going through a hard season
  • Attention to detail, especially with fragile and irreplaceable things
  • Discretion and integrity in someone's home and among their belongings
  • Reliability, because a family is counting on the day going as planned

What the job requires

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, and bend and reach repeatedly, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
  • A smartphone, and comfort using apps for checklists, photos, and schedules
  • Willing to work in homes that are dusty, cluttered, or in disrepair
  • Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to follow plans and talk with clients
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Offers are contingent on a background check

The schedule

Projects run mostly on weekdays between 8am and 4pm, with occasional Saturdays. You need at least two weekdays available between 9am and 3pm. Expect anywhere from 8 to 30 hours in a week depending on the project load, with no guaranteed minimum.

Who this tends to suit

This suits retirees, empty nesters, former teachers and nurses, professional organizers, and anyone who wants meaningful part-time work without a fixed weekly commitment.
